[38] Bhikkhus, endowed with seven qualities, Sāriputta wields the mind (citta) under his mastery, and Sāriputta does not proceed under the mastery of the mind. What seven? Here, bhikkhus, Sāriputta is skilled in concentration (samādhi); skilled in the attainment (samāpatti) of concentration; skilled in the persistence (ṭhiti) of concentration; skilled in emergence (vuṭṭhāna) from concentration; skilled in the fitness (kallita) of concentration; skilled in the resort (gocara) of concentration; skilled in resolution (abhinihāra) regarding concentration. Bhikkhus, endowed with these seven qualities, Sāriputta wields the mind under his mastery, and Sāriputta does not proceed under the mastery of the mind.
