[5] Bhikkhus, there are these seven kinds of wealth (dhana). What seven? The wealth of faith (saddhā), the wealth of virtue (sīla), the wealth of moral shame (hirī), the wealth of moral dread (ottappa), the wealth of learning (suta), the wealth of generosity (cāga), and the wealth of wisdom (paññā). These, bhikkhus, are the seven kinds of wealth.
The wealth of faith, the wealth of virtue,
moral shame and moral dread as wealth,
the wealth of learning, and generosity,
with wisdom truly as the seventh wealth —
whoever possesses these kinds of wealth,
whether a woman or a man,
that one they call "not poor";
that one's life is not in vain.
Therefore the wise person, recollecting
the teaching of the Buddhas,
should devote themselves to faith and virtue,
to confidence (pasāda), and to seeing the Dhamma.
