[103] Bhikkhus, owing to wrongness (micchatta) there is failure, not success. And how, bhikkhus, owing to wrongness is there failure, not success? Bhikkhus, for one of wrong view (micchādiṭṭhi), wrong thought (micchāsaṅkappa) comes to be; for one of wrong thought, wrong speech comes to be; for one of wrong speech, wrong action comes to be; for one of wrong action, wrong livelihood comes to be; for one of wrong livelihood, wrong effort comes to be; for one of wrong effort, wrong mindfulness comes to be; for one of wrong mindfulness, wrong concentration comes to be; for one of wrong concentration, wrong knowledge (micchāñāṇa) comes to be; for one of wrong knowledge, wrong deliverance (micchāvimutti) comes to be. It is in this way, bhikkhus, that owing to wrongness there is failure, not success.
