[155] Bhikkhus, a person possessed of ten qualities should not be associated with. Which ten? He is of wrong view (micchādiṭṭhi), of wrong thought (micchāsaṅkappa), of wrong speech (micchāvācā), of wrong action (micchākammanta), of wrong livelihood (micchā-ājīva), of wrong effort (micchāvāyāma), of wrong mindfulness (micchāsati), of wrong concentration (micchāsamādhi), of wrong knowledge (micchāñāṇa), of wrong deliverance (micchāvimutti). Bhikkhus, a person possessed of these ten qualities should not be associated with.
Bhikkhus, a person possessed of ten qualities should be associated with. Which ten? He is of right view (sammādiṭṭhi), of right thought (sammāsaṅkappa), of right speech (sammāvācā), of right action (sammākammanta), of right livelihood (sammā-ājīva), of right effort (sammāvāyāma), of right mindfulness (sammāsati), of right concentration (sammāsamādhi), of right knowledge (sammāñāṇa), of right deliverance (sammāvimutti). Bhikkhus, a person possessed of these ten qualities should be associated with.

Bhikkhus, a person possessed of ten qualities should not be resorted to ... should be resorted to ... should not be attended upon ... should be attended upon ... is not worthy of veneration¹ ... is worthy of veneration ... is not worthy of praise ... is worthy of praise ... is without respect ... has respect ... is without deference² ... has deference² ... does not succeed ... succeeds ... is not purified ... is purified ... does not overcome conceit (māna) ... overcomes conceit ... does not grow in wisdom (paññā) ... grows in wisdom ... generates much demerit ... generates much merit. Which ten? He is of right view, of right thought, of right speech, of right action, of right livelihood, of right effort, of right mindfulness, of right concentration, of right knowledge, of right deliverance. Bhikkhus, a person possessed of these ten qualities generates much merit.
