[16] Bhikkhus, these ten persons are worthy of gifts, worthy of hospitality, worthy of offerings, worthy of reverential salutation, an unsurpassed field of merit for the world. Which ten? The Tathāgata, the Arahant, the Fully Self-Enlightened One; a Paccekasambuddha; one liberated in both ways; one liberated by wisdom; a body-witness (kāyasakkhi); one attained to view (diṭṭhippatta); one liberated by faith (saddhāvimutta); a truth-devotee (dhammānusārī); a faith-devotee (saddhānusārī); and one who has entered the lineage (gotrabhū). These, bhikkhus, are the ten persons who are worthy of gifts … an unsurpassed field of merit for the world.
