[207] Bhikkhus, for the full understanding (pariññā) of lust (rāga), for its utter destruction, for its abandonment, for its ending, for its vanishing, for dispassion toward it, for its cessation, for its calming, for giving it up, and for relinquishing it, ten dhammas are to be developed. …
For the direct knowledge (abhiññā) of hatred, of delusion, of anger (kodha), of grudge (upanāha), of denigration (makkha), of domineering (palāsa), of envy (issā), of avarice (macchariya), of deceit (māyā), of hypocrisy (sāṭheyya), of obstinacy (thambha), of contentiousness (sārambha), of conceit (māna), of arrogance (atimāna), of vanity (mada), and of heedlessness (pamāda); for their full understanding, for their utter destruction, for their abandonment, for their ending, for their vanishing, for dispassion toward them, for their cessation, for their calming, for giving them up, and for relinquishing them, these ten dhammas are to be developed.
