[49] Bhikkhus, there are these ten things (dhammā) rooted in the body (sarīraṭṭhā) that should be frequently reflected upon by one gone forth (pabbajita). What ten? Cold, heat, hunger, thirst, defecation, urination, bodily restraint, verbal restraint, restraint of livelihood, and the formation of existence (bhavasaṅkhāra) that leads to renewed existence. These, bhikkhus, are the ten things rooted in the body.
