[63] Bhikkhus, all those who have reached certainty (niṭṭhaṃ gatā) about me are accomplished in view. Of those accomplished in view, for five the consummation is here; for five the consummation is after leaving here.
For which five is the consummation here? For the one with seven rebirths at most (sattakkhattuparama), for the one who goes from family to family (kolaṃkola), for the single-seeder (ekabījī), for the once-returner (sakadāgāmī), and for the one who is an arahant in this very life — for these five the consummation is here.
For which five is the consummation after leaving here? For the one who attains final Nibbāna within the first half of the life-span (antarāparinibbāyī), for the one who attains final Nibbāna after the first half of the life-span (upahaccaparinibbāyī), for the one who attains final Nibbāna without exertion (asaṅkhāraparinibbāyī), for the one who attains final Nibbāna with exertion (sasaṅkhāraparinibbāyī), and for the one bound upstream, heading to the Akaniṭṭha realm (uddhaṃsota akaniṭṭhagāmī) — for these five the consummation is after leaving here.
