[332] 14. Thus have I heard. On one occasion the Blessed One was dwelling at Sāvatthī, in Jeta's Grove, Anāthapiṇḍika's Park. Then the lay follower (upāsaka) Dhammika, together with five hundred lay followers, approached the Blessed One; having approached, he paid homage to the Blessed One and sat down to one side. Sitting to one side, the lay follower Dhammika addressed the Blessed One in verse: ¹ [Siam Raṭṭha apparatus:] "Yu.: this reading does not occur" — i.e., the reading so marked is absent from the European (PTS) edition.
