[317] 4. Thus have I heard. On one occasion the Blessed One was dwelling at Sāvatthī, in the Jetavana, Anāthapiṇḍika's Park. Then, when the night had advanced, a certain deity (devatā) of surpassing beauty, illuminating the entire Jetavana, approached the Blessed One. Having approached and paid homage to the Blessed One, the deity stood to one side. Standing to one side, that deity addressed the Blessed One in verse:
