[5] Thus have I heard. On one occasion the Blessed One was dwelling at Sāvatthī, in the Jeta Grove, in Anāthapiṇḍika's Park. Then, when the night was far advanced, a certain deity (devatā) of surpassing beauty, illuminating the entire Jeta Grove, approached the Blessed One; having approached and paid homage to the Blessed One, the deity stood to one side. Standing to one side, that deity addressed the Blessed One in verse:
