[392] "Bhikkhus, if there should be those who ask, 'Could there be right contemplation of the dyads (dvayatānupassanā) in yet another way?' they should be answered, 'There could be.' And how could there be? 'Whatever suffering (dukkha) originates, all of it has acquisition (upadhi) as its condition' — this is one contemplation. 'But with the remainderless fading away and cessation of acquisitions, there is no origination of suffering' — this is the second contemplation. For one who thus rightly contemplates the dyads … Then the Teacher further said this:
Sufferings spring forth with acquisition as their source —
whatever sufferings, of many kinds, there are in the world.
Truly, whoever, unknowing, creates acquisition,
that fool undergoes suffering again and again.
Therefore, understanding, one should not create acquisition,
contemplating the birth and origin of suffering.
