[403] "Could there be, by yet another method, …" … And how could there be? "For one who is dependent (nissita) there is wavering": this is one contemplation (anupassanā). "One who is not dependent does not waver": this is the second contemplation. For one who rightly contemplates the dyads (dvayatā) thus … Then the Teacher said this further: One not dependent does not waver, but one dependent, clinging, does not pass beyond saṃsāra, with its being thus and becoming otherwise. Having known this danger (ādīnava), the great peril in dependencies (nissaya), not dependent, without clinging, mindful (sato), let the bhikkhu wander.
