[436] 12.
"The abandoner of the abode, the cutter of craving (taṇhā), the imperturbable one, (thus said the Venerable Bhadrāvudha,)
the abandoner of delight, crossed over the flood, liberated,
the abandoner of mental constructs (kappa) — I entreat that one of excellent wisdom.
Having heard the nāga, they will depart from here —
the various people come together from the countries,
longing, O hero, for your word.
Explain it well to them,
for thus is this Dhamma known to you."
"One should dispel entirely craving bound up with grasping (ādānataṇhā), (Bhadrāvudha, said the Blessed One,)
above, below, and across in the middle too;
for whatever they cling to in the world,
by that very thing does Māra pursue a person.
Therefore, understanding, a bhikkhu who is mindful
should not cling to anything in all the world,
beholding them as 'beings attached to grasping' —
this population entangled in the realm of Death."
