[95] Now the Venerable Mahāmoggallāna, with the divine eye (dibbacakkhu), purified and surpassing the human, saw the blow being given by that yakkha upon the head of the Venerable Sāriputta. Having seen it, he approached the Venerable Sāriputta and, having approached, said this to the Venerable Sāriputta: "Friend, I hope it is bearable for you; I hope you can keep going; I hope you have no pain (dukkha)?" "It is bearable for me, friend Moggallāna; I can keep going, friend Moggallāna; but there is a slight pain in my head."
M. "It is wonderful, friend Sāriputta! It is marvellous, friend Sāriputta! That the Venerable Sāriputta should be of such great psychic power, of such great might! Just here, friend Sāriputta, a certain yakkha gave a blow upon your head, and so mighty was that blow that with it one might even fell an elephant (nāga) of seven or eight cubits (ratana), or split a great mountain peak; and yet the Venerable Sāriputta says thus: 'It is bearable for me, friend Moggallāna; I can keep going, friend Moggallāna; but there is a slight pain in my head.'"
Sā. "It is wonderful, friend Moggallāna! It is marvellous, friend Moggallāna! That the Venerable Mahāmoggallāna should be of such great psychic power, of such great might, in that he can see even a yakkha! But we at this moment do not see even a dust-goblin (paṃsupisācaka)!"
