[235] 8. When one has seen a form, mindfulness (sati) is lost as one attends to the pleasing sign (piyanimitta); one experiences it with an impassioned mind (citta) and remains holding fast to it; for such a one the taints (āsavā) grow, leading on to the root of existence (bhava).
