[236] 9. Having heard a sound, mindfulness (sati) is lost for one who attends to a pleasing sign (nimitta); with an impassioned mind (citta) he feels it, and he remains cleaving to it; for him the taints (āsava) increase, as he draws on toward saṃsāra. Uttiya the Elder.
