[259] 2. "This life is not lived by wrong means; food is not close to my heart. 'This bodily frame subsists on food'— seeing thus, I go about my search. For they have declared it a bog, this homage and worship among families— a subtle dart, hard to draw out; honor is hard for a base man to give up." Thus indeed did the Venerable Piṇḍolabhāradvāja the Elder speak these verses.
