[261] 4. My hut was made of three palm leaves on the bank of the Gaṅgā; my bowl was but a pot for pouring water over a corpse, and my robe was a rag-robe from the dust heap (paṃsukūla). In the course of two rainy seasons I spoke only a single utterance; in the third rainy season the mass of darkness was torn asunder. The Elder Gaṅgātīriya.
