Even if one possesses the three true knowledges (tevijja),
has left death behind (maccuhāyī), and is without taints (āsava),
fools, unknowing,[4] despise him:
"He is of no renown."
But whatever person here
is a gainer of food and drink,
even if he is of evil character (pāpadhamma),
it is he who is honored by them.
