[285] 8. "Come, Nandaka, let us go to the presence of our preceptor (upajjhāya); we shall roar the lion's roar (sīhanāda) face to face with the supreme Buddha. Out of that compassion (anukampā) for us with which the Sage (muni) gave us the going forth (pabbajjā), that goal has been attained by us — the destruction of all fetters (saṃyojana)." The Elder Bhārata. [Variant notes: 1. M. (Burmese ed.): *andhakāro*. 2. Po.: *byago*. 3. M., Yu. (Burmese and European eds.): *Bharato*.]
