9. At the assattha tree, gleaming green, full-grown,
mindful, I gained a single perception (saññā) connected with the Buddha.
In the thirty-first aeon from the present, the perception that I gained then —
through the power of that perception I have attained the destruction of the taints (āsava).
The Elder Sandhita.
Summary (uddāna):
The Elder Kumārakassapa, Dhammapāla and Brahmāli,
Mogharāja and Visākha, Cūḷaka and Anūpama,
Vajjita, and the Elder Sandhita — remover of the dust of the defilements (kilesa).
The Fifth Chapter.
Likewise, in the Book of Twos (Dukanipāta) there are ninety and eight [verses],
spoken by forty-nine elders skilled in method.
The Book of Twos is finished.
