[307] Seeking purity in the wrong way,
I tended the fire in the forest;
not knowing the path of purity,
I performed further austerity.
That happiness has been won through happiness:
behold the excellence of the Dhamma!
The three true knowledges (vijjā) have been attained,
and the Buddha's teaching has been fulfilled.
Formerly I was a kinsman of Brahmā (brahmabandhu);
now indeed I am a brahmin:
I possess the threefold knowledge (tevijja) and am washed clean (nhātaka);
I am versed in sacred lore (sotthiya) and attained to knowledge (vedagū).
