"Covered with gold, attended by a troop of maidservants,
carrying my son on her hip, my wife approached me.
And seeing her coming — the mother of my own son —
adorned and finely clad, like a snare of Death laid out,
then careful attention (yoniso manasikāra) arose in me;
the danger (ādīnava) became manifest; disenchantment (nibbidā) became firmly established.
Then my mind (citta) was liberated — see the excellence of the Dhamma (dhammasudhammatā)!
The three true knowledges (vijjā) have been attained; the Buddha's teaching has been done."
