"Endowed in both ways, they know me as 'Rāhulabhadda' — Rāhula the Fortunate:
both in that I am the son of the Buddha,
and in that I am one with vision regarding dhammas.
And in that my taints (āsava) are destroyed,
and in that there is no renewed existence,
I am an arahant, worthy of offerings,
possessing the threefold knowledge, a seer of the deathless.
Blinded by sensuality, covered over by the net,¹
shrouded by the covering of craving (taṇhā),
bound by the Kinsman of the Heedless,
[beings are] like fish in the mouth of a trap.
Having cast away that sensuality,
having cut Māra's bond,
having pulled out craving together with its root,
I have become cool; I am quenched."
