[438] Kassapa, son and heir of the Buddha,
well concentrated —
he knows¹ his past abodes (pubbenivāsa)
and sees heaven and the states of woe (apāya);
#1 M. and Yu. (Burmese and European editions) read "yo" ("who").
moreover, he has attained the destruction of birth (jātikkhaya),
a sage (muni) perfected in direct knowledge (abhiññā):
by these three true knowledges (vijjā)
he is a brahmin possessed of the threefold true knowledge (tevijja).
In just the same way, Bhaddā Kāpilānī,
possessed of the threefold true knowledge, having left death behind,
bears her final body,
having conquered Māra together with his mount.
Having seen the danger (ādīnava) in the world,
we have both gone forth;
we are tamed, our taints (āsava) destroyed;
we have become cool, we are quenched.
