"Just as the Cittalatā Grove shines forth,
best of parks, supreme among those of the Thirty (Tidasa) gods,
even so, in that very likeness, this mansion (vimāna) of yours
stands shining in the sky.
You have attained divine power (deviddhi); you are of great majesty.
When you were a human being, what merit (puñña) did you do?
By what means is your majesty thus ablaze,
and your radiance (vaṇṇa) shines in all directions?"
That deva (devaputta), gladdened, questioned by Moggallāna, … of what deed (kamma) this is the fruit:
"I and my wife, in the human world,
dwelt at home, being like an open well (opānabhūtā);
with minds (citta) serene with confidence,
we respectfully gave an abundant gift (dāna) of food and drink.
Because of that my radiance is such … and my radiance shines in all directions."
