[86] The Arahants (arahanto) are like the field; the donors (dāyakā) are like the farmers;
the gift (deyyadhamma) is like the seed: from this the fruit is produced.
This seed and this tilled field are for the departed (petā) and for the giver;
the departed partake of that, and the giver prospers by merit (puñña).
Having done what is wholesome (kusala) right here, and having honored the departed,
one advances to heaven (sagga) as one's place, having done an auspicious deed (kamma).
