[167] There rises this One Endowed with Vision, the sole king,
golden-hued, shedding radiance over the earth.
To that one I pay homage — the golden-hued, shedding radiance over the earth:
guarded by you today, may we abide through the day.
Those brahmins (brāhmaṇā) who have attained perfect knowledge (vedagū) of all dhammas —
to them my homage; and may they protect me.
Homage be to the Buddhas, homage be to awakening (bodhi);
homage to the liberated ones, homage to liberation (vimutti).
Having made this protective utterance (paritta), the peacock goes about his foraging.
