Candakinnarījātaka

Suttapiṭaka · Khuddakanikāya · Jātaka (1) · Vol. 27 · Section 1883

[1883] "This [life], I think, is being borne away, O Candā, amid this welter of blood; even today I am giving up life; my life-breaths, Candā, are ceasing. I sink down in suffering (dukkha); my heart is burning; I grow faint — it is for you, Candā, in your grieving; it is not from any other sorrows (soka). Like grass, like the forest, I wither; like a river unreplenished, I run dry — it is for you, Candā, in your grieving; it is not from any other sorrows. Like rain upon a lake at the foot [of the mountain], these tears of mine stream down — it is for you, Candā, in your grieving; it is not from any other sorrows."
