[1944] "Sixteen thousand women, brahmin, are wives together with me;
yet never at any time has envy (issā) or anger (kodha) toward them been mine.
I take delight in their welfare, and not one of them is unloved by me;
always I show compassion to all my co-wives, as to my own self.
By this utterance of truth (saccavajja), may a son be born, O seer!
Should I be speaking falsely, may my head split into seven pieces."
