[1971] Whatever ascetics (samaṇā) there are upon the earth,
clad in ochre robes, who fare in the homeless life,
who walk for alms early in the morning, at the proper time —
for, being at peace, they abstain from faring at the wrong time —
having approached them there at a fitting time,
ask whatever may be dear to your mind;
they will declare it to you according to their understanding,
the good (attha) of this world and of the world beyond.
