[2374] She who bore you and reared you, long compassionate toward you —
when Chabbhi turned against you with evil intent,¹
she, wise and discerning of your good,
contrived another in your place and freed you from being put to death.
Such a mother — the giver of your life, who nurtured you at her own breast, who carried you in her womb —
for what fault would you give her to the water demon (dakarakkhī)?
