[1210] Knowing their intention, the lord of the devas said this:
"All obstacles have been overcome by you,
both those divine and those human.
The earth has been made to resound by you;
your sound has reached the heaven of the Thirty-three (tidiva);
on every side lightning flashed —
as it were, the echo of the mountains.
Both Nārada and Pabbata rejoice in that deed of yours;
Inda and Brahmā and Pajāpati,
Soma, Yama, and King Vessavaṇa —
all the devas rejoice in approval,
for he does what is hard to do.
Those who give what is hard to give,
who do the deed that is hard to do —
the bad do not imitate them;
the Dhamma of the good is hard to follow.
Therefore, when they pass from here,
the destination of the good and of the bad differs:
the bad go to hell (niraya);
the good are bound for heaven (sagga).
In that, dwelling in the forest, you gave these children,
you gave your wife —
not swerving from the supreme vehicle (brahmayāna) —
may that ripen for you in heaven."
