[1269] At that very moment the deva poured down
a rain made of gold,
when Vessantara had entered [the city] —
he who fostered the growth of the realm of the Sivis.
Then King Vessantara, the khattiya (noble warrior),
having given gifts (dāna),
wise, with the breakup of the body,
was reborn in heaven (sagga).
(This is) called the Nagarakaṇḍa, the Chapter of the City.
The Mahāvessantara Jātaka, the tenth.
The Mahānipāta is finished.
