[304] "Truly, friend Puṇṇamukha, on nine grounds does a woman bring about corruption (padosa): she is given to going to groves (ārāma); she is given to going to pleasure-gardens (uyyāna); she is given to going to river landing-places; she is given to going to the families of her relatives; she is given to going to the families of others; she is given to habitual occupation with the mirror, with garments, and with adornment; she is a drinker of strong drink; she is given to gazing about; and she is one who stands about at the doorway. Truly, friend Puṇṇamukha, on these nine grounds does a woman bring about corruption."
And on this there is also this further saying:
She who is given to going to grove and pleasure-garden,
to river, to families of kin and of others,
who is devoted to garments and adornment,
the woman who is a drinker of strong drink,
she who is given to gazing about,
and she who stands about at the doorway —
on these nine grounds
do women bring about corruption.
