Suttapiṭaka · Khuddakanikāya · Jātaka (2) · Vol. 28 · Section 477

[477] "On this hand of mine, ascetic (samaṇa), two bracelets (nīvara) are fastened; struck together, a sound arises — such indeed is the way of a second. On this hand of mine, ascetic, a single bracelet is fastened; having no second, it makes no sound — it stands as though become a silent sage (muni). A second incurs dispute: with whom shall one alone dispute? So may solitude (ekatta) find favor with you, who desire heaven (sagga)."
