[482] Who, pray, has shot me with an arrow — me, heedless, fetching water? A noble (khattiya), a brahmin (brāhmaṇa), or a merchant (vessa) — who are you that, having shot me, lie hidden? My flesh is not fit to eat, and there is no use for my hide; for what reason, then, did he think me one who ought to be shot? Who are you, or whose son are you? How may we know you? Asked by me, friend, declare it: why, having shot me, do you lie hidden?
