[543] Questioned by him, Mātali, the charioteer of the devas, explained; knowing, he told the result (vipāka) of evil deeds (pāpakamma) to one who knew not: "Whosoever these are — the stingy, the miserly, revilers of ascetics (samaṇa) and brahmins (brāhmaṇa), who, being of thoroughly evil nature, injure and vex them — they, of cruel deeds, having engendered evil: these are the people whom flocks of ravens devour."
