[562] And see the tongue pierced through with a fish-hook, like a hide stretched out with a spike; #1 Burmese edition: virosakā. they writhe like fish thrown up on dry land; weeping, they let fall their spittle — why do these do so? For fear seizes me, charioteer, at the sight. I ask you, Mātali, charioteer of the devas: what evil, pray, have these mortals done, these people who lie here having swallowed the hook?
