[576] Asked by him, Mātali, the charioteer of the devas, answered;
he who knew declared to him who knew not the result (vipāka) of meritorious deeds (puññakamma):
"Whatever women here in the world of the living
are female lay followers (upāsikā) possessed of virtue,
delighting in giving (dāna), their minds (citta) ever serene with confidence,
established in truth, heedful in the Uposatha,
restrained and given to sharing — they rejoice in the celestial mansion (vimāna)."
