Tabors (ālambara) and drums (mudiṅga), dance and song, music well played—
divine sounds pour forth, worth hearing, delighting the mind.
Never before, surely, do I recall
a sound of such a kind, so lovely—whether seen or heard.
Delight indeed comes over me, charioteer, at this sight;
I ask you, Mātali, charioteer of the devas:
What good deed, pray, did these mortals do,
that they rejoice in a mansion, having attained heaven?"
