[588] Asked by him, Mātali, the charioteer of the devas (devasārathi), explained; knowing, he declared the result (vipāka) of meritorious deeds (puññakamma) to one who knew not: "With faith (saddhā) well established in the true Dhamma (saddhamma) so well proclaimed, the disciples of the Fully Self-Enlightened One (sammāsambuddha) carried out the Teacher's word — theirs, O King, are these abodes which you behold."
