[587] "Many are these [mansions] here in the sky, fashioned of gold,
blazing brilliantly they shine, like lightning amid the massed clouds;
there spirits (yakkha) of great power, adorned with every ornament,
circle round about on every side, surrounded by throngs of women.
Joy indeed comes over me, O charioteer, at the sight;
I ask you, Mātali, charioteer of the devas:
what good, pray, did these mortals do,
that, having attained heaven (sagga), they rejoice in a mansion?"
