[663] The jackals, vilest of beasts, seeing by night the kiṃsuka tree in bloom, thronged around it, thinking, "It is a piece of flesh." When the night had passed and the sun had risen, those vilest of beasts, seeing the kiṃsuka in flower, had their hope cut off. Even so, O king, having surrounded Vedeha, you will depart with your hope cut off, as the jackals from the kiṃsuka.
