[769] A reciter of the Vedas (ajjhāyaka), endowed with the virtue of the mantras, an ascetic — him they here have called "one devoted to begging" (yācayogī); as he was pouring out water at the ocean's shore, the sea swallowed him up — therefore [its water] is undrinkable.
