[801] If it is true, as they say, that having sacrificed with their sons people pass away from here and go to the heavenly world (devaloka),
then let the brahmin (brāhmaṇa) sacrifice first; afterwards, O king, you also shall sacrifice.
If it is true, as they say, that having sacrificed with their sons people pass away from here and go to the heavenly world,
then let this very Khaṇḍahāla sacrifice with his own sons.
If Khaṇḍahāla knows this to be so, why does he not slay his sons?
Why does he not slay all his kinsfolk, and himself as well?
All of them go to hell (niraya): those who sacrifice, and those too who cause others to sacrifice,
and those as well who rejoice in such a great sacrifice (mahāyañña) of those who are sacrificing.
