[802] "And how is it, indeed, that the householders
and housewives who long for sons
do not in the city reproach the king:
'Slay not your breast-born son'?
And how is it, indeed, that the householders
and housewives who long for sons
do not in the city reproach the king:
'Slay not the son born of your very self'?
And I am a well-wisher of the king,
a benefactor of the whole realm;
no one could bear a grudge (paṭigha) against me,
yet the people of the realm do not make it known [to the king]."
