[829] When everything had been made ready, when Canda and Suriya
had been seated for the sake of the sacrifice,
the daughter of the Pañcāla king, with palms joined in añjali,
went about through the midst of the whole assembly:
"By the truth that Khaṇḍahāla,
the witless one, is doing an evil deed —
by this declaration of truth (saccavajja)
may I be united with my husband.
Whatever non-human beings there are here,
and whatever yakkhas there are, beings come to be and beings yet to come to be,
let them render service to me:
may I be united with my husband.
Whatever deities have come here,
and all beings come to be and beings yet to come to be —
protect me, a seeker of refuge, unprotected;
I beg you: may my husband be unconquered."
