[830] Hearing that, the non-human being (amanussa)
whirled an iron hammer about,
and, arousing fear in him,
said this to the king:
"Come to your senses, vile king (rājakali),
lest I smash your head!
Do not slay your eldest son,
the innocent one, like a lion.
Whom, indeed, have you ever seen, vile king,
desiring heaven (sagga)
while sons and wives were being slain,
and wealthy merchants (seṭṭhī) and householders (gahapati) —
innocent ones?"
